Nonetheless, the WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit comes highly recommended. Its interface, however, is in need of a style update. The WorldCard Mobile app is also impressive, at least in terms of what it can accomplish. I find it both durable and a great addition to my very messy desk. I’ve been using a WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit since the beginning of the year. On a positive note, this limitation means that it can be used with smartphones on other platforms, which is important given its compatibility. The WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit comes with a single user license for both the Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS applications. Some might complain that the kit doesn’t offer a connector to charge your smartphone. Best of all, the WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit doesn’t require any additional hardware or, better still, cords. The accessory, like other smartphone stands, is made to sit near your computer, and serves as both a dock for your smartphone and a business card reader at the same time. This is where the new WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit comes in. Even more so on the larger iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. In 2009, PenPower introduced its WorldCard Mobile app for iPhone. ![]() The company has grown considerably since then, and now offers a range of products including ones for voice, graphic design, and business document management. PenPower launched in 1991 when it introduced a Chinese writing pad with handwriting recognition technology. The end result is very nice and a must-have for any business person. The $59.95 accessory serves both as a smartphone stand and a business card holder/reader. Not anymore, thanks to products like the WorldCard Mobile Phone Kit from PenPower. Getting the information on those cards onto our smartphones was once a tedious process. Even though we live in a digital world, most in the business world continue to carry business cards.

Now you should be able to see the AppData folder in your User folder. Next, go to the "View" tab at the top and check the "Hidden items" checkbox, as shown below: You can view the AppData folder manually by going into your Users folder, which is there in the C drive. You can either access it manually or by using the "AppData" variable name. There are two ways you can access the AppData folder. This is often used for storing settings like bookmarks, saved passwords, and so on. The Roaming folder is used to store data that will be synced across multiple Windows systems. The LocalLow folder is the same as the Local folder, except it is used by applications with low integrity that run with restricted security settings, for example, Mozilla Firefox in private mode. The Local folder is used to store data that is specific to a single windows system, which means data is not synced between multiple PCs. As I mentioned earlier, there are three folders inside AppData - Local, LocalLow, and Roaming. Each windows user account has its own AppData folder. What is the AppData Folder?Īpplications in windows often store their settings and temporary data in the AppData Folder. The AppData folder includes application settings, files, and data unique to the applications on your Windows PC. As adding planetary bodies, minigames, HUDs, weapons and sounds are among several possibilities, testing the potential limitations of the OXP is still at an early stage. A pack may simply offer more ships or stations, or contain scripted interactive missions. Often The Dark Wheel and 80's Elite fandom are of obvious influences, although elements from alternate space operas have also been shared. Over Oolite's first two years, many from the Oolite community were inspired by the game's coherent modding opportunities, resulting in a fairly large pool of OXPs. These game additions, either self-made or downloaded, are freely placed in the game's AddOns folder, allowing the player to shape the plot and population of the game universe. Only a few simple tools are needed to create an OXP (Oolite eXpansion Pack). Since the game structure is intended to be ‘open–hooded’, objects and events that take place in Oolite are easily modified without need of programming skills. Numerous modifications for Oolite have expanded the gameplay by adding in new missions, new equipment, new ships, new trading locations and new open-ended career opportunities such as courier or hitman. It is not necessary to complete or even begin any of these missions to play the game, however. There are a small number of built-in missions in the game, inherited from Elite, where the player is given specific tasks to perform. This rating begins at "harmless" (no kills), then "mostly harmless", and culminates with the "deadly" then "elite" rankings. The player can also seek to trade in his or her ship for other models with different characteristics and capabilities.Įach ship the player destroys, of any type or class, adds to the player's Elite rating, a ranking based on the number of kills made. Money earned or otherwise acquired can be spent on fuel for the wormhole engines (known as "Witchdrives"), ship maintenance and new equipment. Players can also elect to carry paying passengers or special cargos to specified destinations. It is also possible, with the right equipment, to mine asteroids for ores and other materials. If the player's ship is equipped with a scoop, this cargo can be salvaged for later resale. Although no bounty is awarded for destroying non-pirate ships, when a ship is destroyed, some of its cargo can survive the explosion. Players can become pirates themselves, attacking merchantmen and other ships. Money can also be earned by destroying pirate ships and collecting bounty. Players can earn money by buying goods in one star system and transporting them to another to sell at a profit. Money and Elite rating are the only built-in forms of "score" in Oolite. There is no set goal or objective in the game. Most combats are dogfights and the ships exhibit non- Newtonian flight characteristics, being immune from the effects of inertia and gravity. Oolite spaceships' principal armaments are lasers and missiles. During this stage of the journey the player can encounter other ships, and combat can occur. The player must then pilot their ship from the entry point, through "normal" space, to the station. Although players can create outgoing wormholes almost anywhere within a system, assuming their engines have sufficient fuel to do so, ships always enter a new system at a considerable distance from the target planet. Each system contains only one inhabited planet, with an orbiting space station players choose the destination system by the name of its planet. ![]() The player is the pilot of a spacecraft, capable of interstellar travel to other nearby planetary systems using wormholes generated by the ship's engines. Like Elite, Oolite is a first-person, open-ended, single-player space trading and combat simulator. Current test version is 1.74 which was released on the 13th June 2010.Ī ship exits a Coriolis station Basics There have been several test releases, with most notably the addition of JavaScripting capabilities to write missions and shader support. On 27 February 2007, the project was relicensed under the GPL and after a lag, development continues by the community. In October 2006, after releasing the stable 1.65 version, Williams announced he would stop developing Oolite after implementing updated OpenGL shader functionality. Most ports include the same functionality except for the Mac OS X version which includes additional support of native Mac OS X features (as integration with iTunes, Spotlight and Growl support) Ports are also available for SGI IRIX and FreeBSD on Intel architectures. In March 2006, the Windows GNUstep port was released. In July, 2004, Oolite was developed by Giles Williams for Mac OS X and released but remained in active development for a long time afterwards.īy September 2005, Mac Oolite had reached v1.52, and a Linux port was released, closely following the Mac OS X developments since.

Instead they executed on the core gameplay remarkably well and I can’t ask for more than that. There’s no big change-up gameplay styles like water levels or autoscrollers (actually a relief), and no proper boss fights really. The only hint that its budget may be lower than these luminaries is its amount of content, with a small enemy roster and 20-ish levels including unlockables. Again, I couldn’t ask for better influences and Hoobadventure really delivers. In its music I was constantly reminded of Origins with its use of ukulele, whistling, and even mariachi band, as well as modern David Wise-like pan flute and so on. In terms of aesthetics, the game is gorgeous with vibrantly modelled environments, and bonus rooms that employ a striking neon silhouette style with a halftone dot effect. ![]() ![]() ![]() There’s even a difficulty setting for less experienced gamers to remove the damaging effects of hazards entirely! These provided a satisfying challenge, but playing the game normally can be as breezy as you like there is a life counter but I got it to the maximum of 99 about halfway through and kept it there. Naturally I also relished finding all the collectibles, which unlock a DKCR-style gallery of concept art, dioramas, and music tracks. There’s enough depth to the levels and mechanics that you can get in a good flow of momentum, and I actually enjoyed playing the time trials for this reason. I was very pleased to discover a game with heart that plays exceptionally well. I feared this would be a situation akin to Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back, a clumsy nostalgia cash-in. You can freely swap between Punch, Twister, and Hope-who seem to play identically-to traverse the coastal town, jungle, and spooky temple that make up the game’s worlds. The Marsupilami creatures make for excellent platformer stars, with their signature lengthy tails lovingly animated and facilitating their various abilities: becoming a wheel for an extended roll, a bundled clump for clobbering, a drill for ground-pounding, or a grapple in addition to the standard leaping, bopping, and wall jumping. In any case, what Ocellus did with the property was remix the recipe from Retro’s Donkey Kong games with a splash of Rayman Origins, and the result is delicious. This current venture seems to be a tie-in to a CG animated series, but I don’t think the series itself exists yet. Anglophone audiences probably know Marsupilami for its 90s Disney cartoon or the junky Mega Drive game, but it dates back to the 50s in French-language comics and has had several other French adaptations since. This was made by Ocellus with assistance from Osome Studio, two French developers who seem to have made a recent habit of adapting nostalgic Belgian comics with Astérix and Smurfs games. I couldn’t be happier with this as the conclusion to my “primate platformers” miniseries (Marsupilamis are kind of like lemurs, right?). The best 2.5D platformer since Tropical Freeze? ![]() GB: What exactly is the gymkhana? How do you plan on implementing in DiRT 3? You’ll always get a fresh car at the start of each stage as we want players to focus on the racing but we may be bringing back the repair and management aspects of the service area in future titles. If you continue to drive on a punctured tyre it will shred off the rim and you’ll be limping to the service area. In fact damaging a wheel can lead to punctures. Paul: If you turn mechanical damage on you will see a more noticeable effect on performance and handling as you drive through the stage. GB: Will damage have more influence on our races in DiRT 3? And will we still have to drive a new car for every race? On our snow tracks we now have deformable snow banks that will allow the player to experience some track deterioration as they drive through the stage. Paul: We have introduced a wide variety of weather effects and times of day in DiRT 3 that will mean that the player will hardly ever experience the same stage in the same conditions. GB: The weather and track deterioration of DiRT 2 were criticized by quite a few people. It’s a pretty interesting read and we touch a lot of points of the game. We recently got a chance to sit with Paul Coleman, Senior Game Designer of the game and talk about some of the new features in it. It is scheduled to be released globally on for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. The game will feature split screen and a cockpit camera view. ![]() It contains a new racing mode, gymkhana, which is featured in the teaser trailer.
