I hope you do so that we can do some PBEM.Īs of the time of writing, I experienced severe input lag with anything more than a few units in it's real time mode. That being said Cold War has an updated PBEM lobby. At $60 dollars an entry you should just buy based on the conflict or military you are most interested in. They present different models and weaponry, but the gameplay is extremely similar between titles. Yes, but it's questionable how many Combat Mission entries you need. Sometimes it's just frustrating and time consuming. Although, it's realistic if you assume your soldiers suck and should die when playing at Veteran level. It's the most realistic RTS I've encountered and is Gary Grigsby level in it's combat maneuvering. Is this game more strategic and realistic than Wargame Red Dragon, Steel Division 1/2, CoH2? This is unfortunate as the intricate communication rules aren't implemented at Veteran level. At veteran level you will basically die quickly in any combat and on first contact (even when you spot the enemy first and ambush them) in most scenarios. What invariably happens at Veteran level is the AI displays perfect marksmanship and weapon choice while your own soldiers show poor marksmanship and weapon decision making. It can be frustrating when you develop a perfect operation through low level manuevering only to find your infantry and armored vehicles couldn't hit an elephant standing still, refuse to use their grenades and rocket launchers when needed, etc. The AI is good, and at medium levels it feels buffed too (that or the player is nerfed). It's honestly one of the best strategy games out there, but it can be a very frustrating game on medium levels. The price point is a bit steep, but there is a ton to do as well of a lot of content. I really enjoy the combat mission series, and believe that it is military grade in it's simulation.
